Hope you’re all doing ok and enjoying the build up to the festive period! I thought an appropriate post for this time of year was some kind of Christmas tag. I haven’t seen any floating around this year so far but I did some searching and found one that went round about this time last year. I love doing tag posts and Christmas is my favourite thing/time of year ever so I think I’m going to enjoy writing this one! There are tags for everything these days so I really wanted to be able to do one for my favourite time of year. Here it goes! I actually wrote a post about my favourite Christmas movies, if you would like to read it click here.
What’s your favourite Christmas movie?
I mean who has just one favourite Christmas movie? Haha, I have loads. Love Actually, The Holiday, Elf (duh), The Home Alone films, Rudolph (major childhood memories), Deck the Halls, Arthur Christmas. Christmas films are my absolute favourite so I love practically every single Christmas film, although these are the ones that spring to mind!
Have you ever had a white Christmas?
Not really. I live in South East Cornwall right next to the sea and we never get snow. If we get snow it just looks like someone poured sugar on the floor! And most of the time it snows it never settles anyway. One year we had a particularly icy December and the ice was banked up on the side of the roads like snow but it was really snow! I’m still yet to experience a white Christmas!
Where do you usually spend your holiday?
With family at home. I’ve never been away for Christmas, nor would I want to. Christmas is my favourite time of tear and I love being home and with the people I love. We usually try our best to split the day between my family and Josh’s.
What is your favourite Christmas song?
Again, I have loads. I love Fairytale of New York, all of the old traditional ones like Last Christmas, but I LOVE Michael Buble’s Christmas album. He has the best voice and I instantly feel festive and cosy when I hear that album. I love his version of ‘all I want for Christmas is you’.
Do you open any presents on Christmas Eve?
Yes but only one small one out of our stockings. It’s just a little tradition, mum and dad always used to let me and my sister open a little one on Christmas Eve before we went to bed and we still do it now!
Can you name all of Santa’s reindeer?
Umm, Dasher, Dancer, Prancer, Vixen, Comet, Cupid, Donner, Blitzen and Rudolph.. I think that’s all of them?!
Which holiday traditions are you looking forward to this year?
Just all of it. I know I have said it 100 times already but Christmas is my favourite time year. I love everything about it, I just live for it. So really I’m looking forward to all of it but I suppose tradition wise I’m just super excited about being with family and eating a giant Christmas dinner!
Is your Christmas tree real or fake?
Fake. We’ve always had fake ones in our house growing up and so has Josh. I don’t really know the reason behind it, it’s just how it’s always been. I’ve always liked it though, and when we move out into a home of our own we will probably have fake ones too!
What is your all-time favourite holiday treat/food/sweet?
Mince pies and candy canes. Oh and also those little chocolates you can hang on the tree! (If they count).
Be honest, do you like giving or receiving gifts better?
Totally honestly – receiving. I find buying people presents so stressful. I always feel like I haven’t spoilt them enough, what can I get them that they would appreciate and Josh in particular is just a pain to buy for, so yeah I prefer receiving. However, nothing beats the feeling of buying something special for someone who deserves it and seeing their reaction.
What is the best Christmas present you ever received?
There’s loads, I’m a very lucky girl. My Michael Kors Watch, my iPad, my mum and dad and Josh spoil me every year but I think my absolute favourite must be a wooden dolls house that my parents bought for me and my sister when were about 4 and 6. We were so shocked when we saw it Christmas morning and played with it pretty much every day for about 6 years.
What would be your dream place to visit for the holiday season?
As I have already mentioned, I’m a real home bird and the idea of being away for Christmas has never appealed to me, but if I was going to choose I would say New York. We went there this January and it was the most amazing experience of my entire life. I would love to go back in the holiday season and see the decorations and the Rockefeller Christmas tree. I can imagine never going back. I’d like to have New Year there too. It’s just my favourite place ever other than home.
Are you a pro present wrapper or do you fail miserably?
Fail miserably!! I try my hardest every year, but it never really works out!
Most memorable Christmas moment?
I have two – I bought Josh a driving experience a couple of years ago to drive a Nissan GTR and he actually cried a little bit when he opened up the letter that I had written to him. It was an amazing feeling to see how much he appreciated it! And also my dad, I bought him a pair of boots he’d been after for ages and I’ll never get over the look on his face when he opened them. I was very happy that I’d been able to make them so speechless!
What made you realise the truth about Santa?
I think I heard someone say it once and I asked my dad if they were telling the truth and dad told me that they were. I think I was about 10 and mum and dad kept it going for as long as they could bless them! I think when you reach a certain age you just work it out for yourself!
What makes the holidays special for you?
Just all of it. The atmosphere, the Christmas cheer (words of Buddy the elf), the decorations, being with family, the food.. just all of it. I’m such a Christmas lover, I always have been so Christmas in itself is special for me!
There’s my answers to the Christmas Tag folks, why not give it a try yourselves? What do you love about Christmas?
Thanks for reading.
