Goals for 2018.

Hey everyone,

Happy New Year! I hope you all had a fantastic Christmas and New Year. I’m so ready for 2018 and I can’t wait to see what comes my way this next year, I have a lot of hopes and dreams! For this post, I thought I would share with you my goals for the New Year ahead. I, like many others I’m sure, am the type of person who loves to think of some New Year’s resolutions determined to stick to them but never actually follow through. So instead of referring to them as resolutions and giving you the ‘New Year New Me’ crap, I’m just going call them my goals for 2018 and share with you what I want to achieve throughout 2018.

Save for our first house

The top of my priority list for this year is to start saving to buy our own home. Me and my other half have spoken for years about eventually buying a house together. We are looking into buying a new build house and have spent a brief amount of time already browsing show homes and at the beginning of December had our first meeting with a finance adviser about a mortgage and it was all extremely positive. All that’s left to do now is save save save! Owning a home is a big dream for me and my boyfriend, so let’s hope 2018 is a positive year for that.

Work hard in my job

I am now officially 4 months into my job as a Digital Marketing Officer and I am still loving it. As some of you may know, my degree is in Journalism but I knew I always wanted a job in marketing so when I got this job, it was a big deal for me. One of my goals for this year is to carry on working hard in my job and proving myself. I want to show people what I can do and I want to carry on being proud of myself.

Sort out my diet and fitness plan and try to stick to it

This is probably the most important goal for me this year. I don’t exercise much (I do a lot of walking with the dog though) and for someone who used to be extremely fit and active this really gets to me. Something else that gets to me, is I don’t look as slim and as toned as I used to. I want to lose a little bit of weight, tone up and feel confident in my skin again. I am more determined than ever as I now have an office job, I can’t afford to eat and be lazy. I need to become healthier and more active.

Read more books

I have never been a big reader. I think it’s partly due to my dyslexia, but I have never been a massive book worm but I have always wished that I was. I have read the Harry Potter books over again because I am a complete potterhead, and I read the Fifty Shades Trilogy, but other than that I am not a reader. This year I want to set myself a goal to read more books. I just want to try and enjoy something that isn’t technology involved and that will relax me. I am going to start by reading the Harry Potter books again (don’t judge) and see where I go from there.

Be more organised and prepared

I struggle with organisation. From the big things like filing important documents, to the little things like buying someone a birthday card. I suck! So in 2018 I really think it’s time to sort that out, especially because hopefully in the not so distant future I will own a home. I got gifted a calendar for Christmas and have taken the time to write important dates down for the year ahead. I have also bought a diary and a planner to keep organised. Fingers crossed that by 2019 I’ll be an organising goddess!

Improve my blogging photography

I love photography. Wherever I am or whatever I am doing, I always have a camera with me. It’s a huge passion of my mine. However, I definitely think the photography on my blog could be so much better. Although I would say it has slightly improved from when I first started blogging, I want to spend 2018 improving my blogging photography and put much more effort into my content.

Try to minimise my time spent on Social Media

I have a love Social Media. I think the opportunities it gives people such as bloggers and other influencers is amazing and I’m sure I’m not the only one who could sit scrolling through Instagram for hours. A huge part of my new job is Social Media so of course – I love it. But I do also hate it. I hate what it can turn people into, I hate how people use it to bully/upset others and I also don’t think it’s healthy to spend your whole evening scrolling through different feeds. Therefore, one of my main goals for this year is to cut down how much time I spend on Social Media. Not come off it completely, because like I said, I do LOVE it. But I do feel like I need to be more present and in the moment instead of looking at my phone all the time.

Look into my future

I don’t know what my future holds, no one does. I do however want to start thinking about it. I have just got my first ever job in the field of my degree, which is amazing. Something I have always dreamed about it going self-employed. My ultimate dream is to blog for a living, and I’d like to hope that may one day I will be able to. However, I know that that’s every bloggers dream and the chances of that happening are not that high. As I have already said, photography is one of my biggest passions and I one day want to start selling my photographs on canvas’ and possibly setting up a small business based on marketing and photography and work from home. I don’t know where my life may take me – that’s the same for everyone, but I do have aspirations and dreams and I want 2018 to be the year where I start looking into self-employment and thinking long and hard about what I want to do in the future.

I hope you enjoyed reading about my goals and aspirations for 2018. I am feeling extremely determined! What goals have you guys set for yourselves this year? I’d love to know!

Thanks for reading everyone, see you next time.

  1. Great goals! Many of these could easily apply to me too haha 🙈 I’ve actually always been a book worm but unfortunately I couldn’t read as much as I would have liked during the past year, mostly due to university 😔 So that’s definitely something I need to try and do this year! But anyway, good luck to you!! That’s a lovely post 💕
