I’m going to be honest, it’s been bloomin’ ages since I sat down and wrote a blog post, and SO much hashappened in the last couple of months (positive and negative) that I’m almostslightly mad at myself for not documenting it. BUT what better way to get backinto the blogging mojo than to start off with my 2019 goals? I know, more ofthe ‘New Year new me’ rubbish that everyone comes out with but, my favouritething to do on the 1 January is set myself new goals for the next 12 months.
- Saving for our new house!
So, a little bit of an updatefor you all – we’ve bought a house! Well, kind of.. we have reserved our houseon a local new build estate. We have paid reservation fees, have officiallybeen given our mortgage offer and are now just waiting to exchange contracts. This is without a doubt the most exciting thing to ever happen as those whoknow me, know how hard we have been working and how long we have wanted our ownhome. So my number one goal for 2019 is to carry on saving our money to finishthe house purchase and to obviously buy pretty things and furniture!
We had a letter the other day to say the house has been plastered, and on NewYear’s Eve were able to get right outside it for a photo. It still hasscaffolding up so we are not allowed inside yet, but our completion is set tobe June, so from June this year we will be officially homeowners and paying a mortgage! Eeekk!
- Get back into running
When I was younger I was such a runner. I was picked forevery sports day and area sports race for distance running. As I got older, Inaturally got SO lazy and I ran less and less. This year I am determined topick it up again. I have downloaded the couch to 5k app. Once I can run 5k myaim is to get to 10k. My ultimate goal for probably 2020 is to run either a 10kor half marathon for charity. But let start small and work my way there!Alongside this, another aim for 2019 is to eat better as well and start gettingmyself a lot healthier than I am currently!
- Read more books
I bought a Kindle last summer in a bid to start reading more books. It really worked and one of my main goals for 2019 is to carry on trying to enjoy getting into more books. I am currently reading Jog On by Bella Mackie.
- Learn to cook!
As said above, 2019 is the year I move out of my parents’home where I am lucky enough to have my dinner cooked for me every night(thanks mum!). It’s an ongoing joke in my family that me and Josh will beliving off beans on toast and pizza when we move out, and while that’s easy Iam determined this year to learn to cook. My grandma and my mum are two of thebest cooks ever so I would love to follow in their footsteps and make us someamazing meals.
- Use my cameras more and improve my photography
Photography is such a huge hobby and passion of mine. I just love to take photos (mainly of my dog). I have two cameras, a Nikon D3200 and an Olympus Pen EPL-8 (you can read my review of my Olympus here) and I always find myself reaching for my iPhone instead. While iPhone’s have amazing cameras, I paid a lot of money for fancy cameras and am determined this year to put them to good use!
- Budget and be better with money
I am a self-confessed money spender. I do like to treatmyself to nice things when I feel I deserve them. With this year being the yearI start paying a mortgage, all the other bills that comes with owning a home aswell as my own food shopping, I’ve decided that budgeting monthly is the bestthing to do to get us organised. I will be putting the finance training we hadat work last year to good use!
Hope you enjoyed reading through my goals for the new yearahead, I would love to read yours. What are your new plans? Hope you all havethe best start to 2019!
