In October we took a much needed week off work and traveled from our home in Cornwall up to Cumbria to The Lake District (I know, what a journey!!). We both work full-time and with having just bought a house, a holiday abroad was out of the question for us this year. We had never visited The Lakes before, but it was on our bucket list so what better time to visit than autumn when the trees will be orange and the air a little chillier – perfect walking weather, and it did not disappoint. It truly was one of the prettiest, impressive places I have ever been.
We did encounter a fair amount of rain but overall there was only one day of full rain, the rest of the time it was dry and we spent a lot of our time outdoors in the fresh air. We visited lots of ‘must-see’ areas, enjoyed a boat trip up and down Lake Windermere, visited the World of Beatrix Potter and consumed more cake and tea than I ever thought possible. What could be better?
Having limited phone signal and wifi was a blessing in disguise, with having such a busy day-to-day internet based job, I really enjoyed being somewhere slightly off the grid and I felt like I really switched off for the first time in a while. If you love the outdoors and picturesque scenery, The Lakes is just the place for you.
Hope you enjoy the pictures taken of our holiday to The Lake District, photos taken we both from my iPhone XR and my Olympus Pen E-PL8. Have you visited The Lakes before? If so did you love it as much as me? I’d love to hear about your trip!
